Job Description Job Description Job Summary: Takes part in
providing local design and land surveying support to the Resident
Engineer on projects to ensure construction compliance with plans,
photogrammetric work, measurements, boundaries, calculations, and
codified requirements for public and private sector client
projects. Responsibilities involve performing land surveys on
various assigned construction projects of moderate scale and/or
complexity, including visually mapping/drafting legal boundaries
and the potential placement of structures, utilities, and
installations. Generates accurate and concise illustrations and
documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures
that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of
quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for
design, uniformity, thoroughness, and legal compliance for survey
documents. Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Collect, compile,
research, and analyze data from property/utility records, deeds,
land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land
surveying activities. • Use survey instruments to perform various
types of property surveys on projects of moderate complexity and/or
scope, which could include boundary, existing condition,
topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps. • Follows
standard practices to provide professional survey assistance that
accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with
applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction
specifications. • May serve as the only surveyor on a construction
project or assist with surveyor activities for projects of a
moderate to slightly intricate scope and complexity within a
region. • Assist with writing technical reports summarizing site
observation and survey findings and conclusions; generating
complete, accurate, and concise documentation using photographs,
sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings,
2D/3D illustrations, and reports. • Work collaboratively with other
professionals, engineers, scientists, project control, technicians,
and project administrators on assigned survey tasks. • Adjust
surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy. • Comply
with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include
but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation,
studies and surveys, and construction. • Engage in occasional
contact with client and contractor personnel to schedule and
coordinate project survey activities. • Remain current in latest
survey knowledge, techniques, and practices. • Exercise responsible
and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and
adhere to professional conduct and KLJ’s policies and procedures. •
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications: • High School Diploma. • Associate’s degree in
Surveying, Geospatial, or closely related discipline is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience in
discipline with prior surveying experience with easements, rights
of way, plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, property
descriptions, and GPS surveys. • Experience with both public and
private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts,
and private land development) • Knowledge of land survey
principles, practices, process, methods, and techniques. •
Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and
record-keeping requirements. • Analytical mindset to exercise sound
judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. •
Detail-oriented and can adapt to new technology, techniques and
processes as industry/clients dictate. • Capable interpersonal and
communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas
effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical
audience. • Competent self-leadership with attention to detail,
multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic
work environment. • Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• General knowledge of photogrammetric map compilation, electronic
data processing, and drafting principles. • Proficiency with survey
equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station), Auto Cad, Civil 3D,
Microstation, and/or Geopak. • Capable critical thinking and
problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to
reach conclusions from calculations, data collation, and survey
results to arrive at the most effective and logical solution. •
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific
requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week. Physical
