Job Description Job Description RahrBSG is looking for a Data and Analytics Engineer to join our team in Shakopee, MN. The Data and Analytics Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining SQL Server data platforms, optimizing and troubleshooting advanced SQL queries and stored procedures, and providing business-oriented analytics solutions using Power BI. This role enables transformation and modernization to scalable cloud-based data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Link. The Data and Analytics Engineer, a key member of a small, high-performing data team, serves as a data expert and collaborates with both business stakeholders and IT colleagues to provide reliable, innovative, and user-friendly data solutions that support and empower decision-makers. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days a week onsite at our Shakopee Minnesota Campus. Manage and support data platforms and solutions to enable the business, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and alignment with data architecture best practices. Plan and support data migrations, upgrades, and platform enhancements. Data Infrastructure and Architecture Fulfill data-related requests, perform necessary data housekeeping, data cleansing, and data model changes. Work with the team to maintain data models, schemas, and storage structures that optimize performance and usability. Contribute to the design of data governance, data quality, and metadata standards. Analytics Enablement Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate business and technical needs into data solutions. Support the development of analytics solutions through efficient data preparation and transformation. Provide guidance, assistance, and training to Power BI developers and users. Quality, Monitoring, and Documentation Analyze data to spot anomalies, trends, and correlate similar data sets. Investigate and resolve data and analytics support issues, identify root causes, and proactively recommend activities to reduce risk of future issues. Implement data validation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure high data quality. Monitor platform performance and implement tools and processes to improve availability and reliability. Create and maintain technical documentation for data platforms and solutions. Manage work items, code, and release pipelines using Azure DevOps. Continuous Improvement Contribute to a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Partner with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, business analysts, and cybersecurity to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable data solutions. Perform additional duties as needed to support evolving business needs. MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 5 years of experience in data and analytics. Strong technical proficiency in: Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, and stored procedures. ETL/ELT tools, such as Microsoft SSIS/SSRS or a comparable tool. Power BI. Solid enterprise data warehouse experience, including data modeling and data schemas. Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Link, Azure Data Lake, or other cloud data platforms). Data integration experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations ERP is preferred. Knowledge of data governance and data quality platforms (e.g., Microsoft Purview) is preferred. Working experience with Azure DevOps or comparable SDLC management tools is preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: An initiative-taker with strong collaboration skills to partner effectively across diverse cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and solve problems in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines. Proven intellectual curiosity to dig into data, understand root cause and implications, and challenge assumptions to ensure the best outcome. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and findings in a clear, concise, and credible manner. Proven ability to learn and understand business data and become a data expert. Demonstrated technical expertise in SQL database, SQL queries, stored procedures and data warehousing. Demonstrated technical expertise in ETL tools and Microsoft Power BI platform. Familiarity with managing work, code, and deployments using Azure DevOps. Ability to leverage Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Pipelines) to standardize data architecture and improve scalability. Demonstrated experience applying data governance practices, including maintaining data catalogs, documenting end to? ?end data lineage, and performing data quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of enterprise data. Recognizes quickly when progress is stalling and takes immediate action to get back on track. Demonstrates responsiveness and reacts with appropriate urgency to situations that require quick action or turnaround. A curious mindset with an enthusiasm for trying new tools and techniques.
