Job Description:
Job Description Job Description In a fast passed, team
environment, works under direct supervision, performs basic and
routine electrical/mechanical assembly and sub-assembly operations.
Uses print specifications, wiring lists, written quality standards
and verbal instructions to assemble, modify, rework or reassemble
wiring units. Work is repetitious in nature and requires a
significant amount of eye hand coordination and dexterity. Works
with small hand tools and completes simple machining operations.
Required to use measuring devices and apply basic math skills. 1.)
Position Functions: Prepares work to be accomplished by reviewing
assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists;
gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Prepares
sub-components for assembly by sorting, stripping, terminating or
otherwise making them ready for further processing. Operates
various hand tools and simple machining operations. Performs
various tests for compliance to quality specifications. Rotates
among different workstations as production needs require. Positions
parts and subassemblies by using blueprints and/or reading
measurements. Assembles components by examining connections for
correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies. Verifies
specifications by measuring completed component. Conserves
resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish
job results. Is required to meet daily Quantity and Quality
standards. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related
tasks as needed. Skill Sets: Education and/or Experience: High
School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)required; and one
to three months’ of assembly/production experience. Language Skills
: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written
quality standards. Must be able to learn to read and understand
basic blueprint layouts. Ability to effectively communicate
information in a one-on-one as well as a small group setting.
Mathematical Skills : Basic math skills including the ability to
add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure (US and
Metric), using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must
be able to accurately use various multiple simple measuring devices
such as calipers rulers, and tape measures. Physical Demands: Must
be able to stand or sit for duration of scheduled shift.
Occasionally required to walk, kneel, crouch and/or stoop. Must
have excellent dexterity skills to manipulate small objects at a
fast pace using excellent eye hand coordination skills. Use
hands/fingers, to handle or position objects, activate tools or
controls. Required to reach up with hands and arms up to 30 inches
for proper placement of components and inspection of completed
work; components could weigh up to 10 pounds. Ability to
occasionally lift up to 30lbs from floor to table height. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include clear vision at 20
inches or less and distant vision at 20 feet or more. Ability to
clearly and accurately identify and distinguish similar colors.
Depth perception should be three dimensional, with the ability to
judge distances and spatial relationships. Ability to adjust the
eye to bring an object into sharp focus. Work Environment: Clean,
well-lit, well-ventilated, temperature controlled work environment.
Some exposure to hot surfaces in tinning and shrink tubing
operations. May be exposed to minimal amount of fumes in (non-lead
based) soldering operation. While performing the duties of this
job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The
noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
